Through the participation of the “Balkan Heritage” Foundation and New Bulgarian University in international projects for the research, documentation, and management of cultural heritage in the Balkans, Bulgaria has significantly contributed to the discovery, preservation, and management of mosaic heritage in Southeastern Europe in the last twenty years. Such projects were realized in Bitola (2008-2012) and Stobi (2010-ongoing) in the Republic of North Macedonia; Doclea-Podgorica (2017-2019) in Montenegro; and Emona-Ljubljana (2022-2023) in Slovenia. As a result of these projects, several ancient mosaics were discovered in Doclea, Montenegro, as well as Heraclea Lyncestis and Stobi in the Republic of North Macedonia. Additionally, new immersive storytelling apps were created for Stobi and Emona.
